Luca Trabucco was born in Salerno and began his musical studies at Genoa's "Nicolò Paganini" Conservatory, with Claudio Proietti in piano and Adelchi Amisano in composition. He subsequently specialized at the "Incontri col Maestro" Pianoforte Academy in Imola, first with Lazar Berman, Alexander Lonquich and Riccardo Risaliti, then with Boris Petrushansky and Piero Rattalino. Winner of several piano contests, including the "Premio Venezia" in 1993 and the "Premio Città di Treviso" in 1995, in 2000 he obtained first prize at the "Premio Città di Pavia" International Competition, in 2002 he won the Pinerolo International Competition as, in 2003, the "Chironi" International
Piano Competition in Nuoro and the "Valsesia Musica" International Piano Competition, in 2004 too, he obtained first prize at the "San Nicola di Bari" International Piano Competition, he's one of the three top prizes winners of the 2005 New Orleans International Piano Competition and, in 2007, he won the first prize at the “Palma d'oro” International Piano Competition in Finale Ligure. He has performed throughout Italy, Europe, North Africa, Japan and the United States, while cooperating with important organizations (Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa, Lyceum in Florence, Teatro Comunale in Treviso, Asolo Musica, Kawai Concerts at Bocconi University in Milan, Società Piccinni in Bari, Accademia Filarmonica in Messina, Università Normale in Pisa, Orchestra Filarmonia Veneta, Ente Arena Sferisterio in Macerata, La Società dei Concerti in Milan, Associazione Filarmonica in Rovereto, Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana, CIEMM in Paris, Polimusica in Madrid, Tyroler Festspiele in Erl, Atheneum in Porto, Cairo Opera House, Meranofest, Orchestra Sinfonica della Provincia di Bari, Louisiana Philarmonic Orchestra, Teatro La Fenice in Venice) and with leading conductors (Marvulli, Mazzola, Renzetti, Seibel, Jonescu, Kuret, etc.). In recent years, though maintaining a truly wide repertory covering every facet of piano literature, he was committed to realizing the entire piano works of Claude Debussy and Maurice Ravel, and examining twentieth-century french piano music in general, in 2000 he published a CD with works by Ravel, Debussy and Messiaen for Phoenix Classic label. In 2002 he realized a CD consisting of four Beethoven sonatas for "Musica in Bocconi", the label of Bocconi University in Milan; in spring 2005 a new CD with an anthological repertoire was released by Suonare Records in attachement with the italian famous music magazine "Suonare News"; in 2015 he realized for Splasc(h) Records the first world recording of "Lightning Streaks" by the italian composer Luca Macchi, that is dedicated to him. Luca Trabucco is also a composer and in 1991 he obtained the "Czerny Prize" for italian composers, his music is published by Edi-Pan in Rome. He currently holds a position in piano performance at the Jacopo Tomadini state conservatory in Udine.
